Since February we've been aching to get NISENNENMONDAI back for a show, and finally next week the band embark on their first proper tour of the UK. Their last gig was a crush of mesmeric noise and swirling motorik psychedelics, in short seriously jaw-clanging!



As you can imagine Monday is going to be epic. Fortune is indeed smiling as BEARDS from Leeds and the irrepressible PLEASE are also going to play too, with live actions commencing from 8.30pm. Here are the tour dates for you if you want to stalk them around the country:

BEATERBLOCKER COMPILATION and LAUNCH NIGHT

John Maus has an exclusive track called 'Bennington' on this new and worthy compilation called Beaterblocker - exciting! You can read more about it below. Will we also be DJ-ing at the launch party on Thursday 24th July FYI.

Beaterblocker is a 15-track experimental mixed genre compilation, available for £7 as of Thursday 24th July. ALL proceeds go to the Homerton Hospital, London. Created in aid of the ACU and Lamb Ward at the Homerton Hospital, Hackney, London. Ed Godden had a heart attack last year, and the album is a thank you to everyone who looked after him. Mastered at Abbey Road Studios and pressed in a limited first edition, beaterblocker will be available to buy from Boomkat, Rough Trade East, Pure Groove, Norman Records, Phonica (in store – Soho) or direct from the website www.beaterblocker.com

Whoo Upset People!

You probably know Matthew Thurber as the gangly saxophonist par excellence in SOILED MATTRESS & THE SPRINGS - hands aloft!

But he's also an amazing cartoonist, you can see some of his work in their new album for us. Along with his Ambergris publishing umbrella, he is also responsible for the unbelievably surreal comic series 1-800 MICE and the saucy title BICYCLE FLUIDS, both through Picturebox.

As you can imagine we almost died when he drew a badge for us featuring our favourite Rudimentary Peni-loving character Peace Punk, in a way don't we all love Rudimentary Peni, in a way aren't we all Peace Punks?


The badges are being made right now by our friends in Glasgow and will adorn all our clothes next week. They will be available for free with all mailorders and at our future shows too.

MAUS LP FINALLY FINALLY!

Hurrah! We are super happy to tell thee that JOHN MAUS - LOVE IS REAL finally made it back from the pressing plant, this one took an age to gestate in a womblike factory in the Czech Republic, but let me tell you IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT! The LP is super deluxe, the sleeve is decked out in heavenly white with all the text in super high gloss on the back. The vinyl is white like snow and sounds terrific too. We're adding the LP to our webshop later today - exciting!

High Places single

UTR019 is out now! This single from High Places includes the tracks "Vision's the first" and "Namer". It is on super heavy coloured vinyl (blue and white) and is £4.50 including postage from our webshop at www.upsettherhythm.co.uk. The two tracks come from their eponymous album, which we are releasing on vinyl later in the year.

If you missed the Cafe Oto show, High Places will be playing with Videohippos and The Sticks at Bush Hall on 21st June.

Well, we're only at the start of the two week marathon, with the No Age/Soiled Mattress and the Springs tour starting proper (for some reason when I think of the word proper I think of Dean saying it in his English geezer accent) today. And the slow sceptre of exhaustion is waving its cheery hand already. Buy hey, there is too much to do AND WE CAN SLEEP WHEN WE'RE DEAD. Or when we're on the tube on the way to work.

Stuff! More thank yous, especially to John Wiese for stepping in so masterfully to replace the stranded Lucky Dragons (hello Luke and Sarah, hope Europe has been kind!) at the ICA last week. More thanks to Hooray for Sex for the jams and to the kind people at the ICA who somehow let us get away with it. And for the free beer, which made for a crazy show, but a free show with free beer, well it was a Bank Holiday. I am trying to get my photos of shows up reasonably promptly, but I'm not in the house much. I'm not doing too bad so far, and you can get to them through the upset the rhythm front page.

So much on this week it is somehow wrong. No Age are playing with Times New Viking, Jay Reatard and Soiled Mattress tomorrow at Bardens and if you haven't got a ticket, then get one, as they are going stupidly quick (I never say this kind of shit because it is so naff and most promoters do it when they have sold precisely 8 tickets but this time I am serious and I don't want to be turning disappointed people away). TNV are playing the headline slot and NA are going to play later, FYI (enough acronyms already).

On Friday, UTR buddies EATS TAPES are playing at Bardens at Music Is My Boyfriend where I'm sure you will see some of us dancing around like total idiots, and before all that starts our friends Simon and Richard are doing this which you should check out yesss:


Also highly recommend is No Signal's weekend of Swedish experimental music, taking place at Cafe Oto and at the ICA on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (and a bargain it is too!). More info is on their website at www.no-signal.net.

Next week: two monster shows, Xiu Xiu on Monday and No Age on Wednesday. AND THE INDIANA JONES MOVIE (sad fact: I honestly thought the whole crystal skull thing was Tipton-inspired Dan Deacon related joke until I saw the film poster on a bus last week).

Thats all for tonight. I'm going to go and think about kittens playing with wool to calm down.
