UPSET THE RHYTHM: VEXX next week and tour dates!!!

Our next London show which falls next Wednesday and see’s Olympia blazers VEXX kick off their debut European tour. This show will take place at the Montague Arms and we’re lucky enough to have HUMAN FORM and VERTICAL SLUMP opening proceedings too. It’s going to be a right memorable one, I hope you can make it and see them off on tour in style!

VEXX, living in and playing out of Olympia, Washington, have been devastating the Pacific Northwest music hubs for the last three years now. Upset the Rhythm and M'lady's Records recently teamed up for the first time to release their debut record - a self-titled mini-album that's explosive, vital and many leagues deeper than it has any right to be in this wicked epoch. VEXX hit the ground running, blazing through songs with a fury rarely seen in the modern underground. "Clairvoyant" is equal parts jagged as inventive, twisting out of reach at all the right moments. The song captures the band perfectly, raging headlong with unmatched momentum. VEXX also know how to write a powerful slow burner, as evidenced by "Strength" and the first half of "Ocean Shores". Maryjane's lyrics and vocals are a clarion call of intent; on fire with possibility, whilst wrestling with the power of everything. Meanwhile, Mike and Corey’s guitar and drum fireworks have left almost all spectators breathless. Each song is a maelstrom, whipping band and audience alike into a whirlwind. Pushing forward, thinking harder, striking home. This is the first date of the band’s debut European tour!

HUMAN FORM are a fairly new London punk band consisting of ex/current members of Vertical Slump, Omi Palone, Keel Her, Slowcoaches, Feature, Warmhammer et al. They play a twisted form of doomy punk, informed by the likes of The Wipers, Moss Icon and 80s SST Records, as well as the recent output from the DIY scenes of Olympia and Sydney, but with distinctly British-sounding vocals.

VERTICAL SLUMP are another recently formed London band, this time four people, focusing on angular, icy shards of post-punk, reminiscent of Chairs Missing-era Wire, approaching the unabashed irreverence of Swell Maps in a caterwaul of driving rhythms and goth-pop sheen.
