Terry - new album released and London concert this Friday!

Morning everyone!   This Friday we’re celebrating the release Terry’s new album ‘Remember Terry’ with a party at The Lexington. Terry will perform their glammy, country-stepping punk/pop odysseys accompanied by their new European synth player (albeit made of paper mache) before heading out to the continent for a few weeks of shows. Friday’s show also features the debut live appearance from Child’s Pose (an inspired meeting of minds between members of Woolf, Sauna Youth, Nekra and Sarcasm), whilst the brilliant Home Entertainment will be opening the show. ‘Remember Terry’ will be released on LP, CD and digitally through Upset The Rhythm all around the world this Friday. After returning from last summer’s European tour, Terry set about writing a new album of songs. These are now grouped together as ‘Remember Terry’, an album full of wish fulfillment, critiqued characters, memorial muscle and historical hustle. Check out this week’s live session for Marc Riley to get a scoop on how great they’re sounding right now.   ‘Remember Terry’ is a fitting follow-up to last year’s debut album. Ideas are pursued and new ground explored. The gang vocals and rapidly chased down melodies we’ve come to expect from the band are still present, only now supplemented with lush keyboard touches, drum machines and a more relaxed attitude allowing the songs to go where they want to go.

Throughout this expansion of sound and subject-matter though, Terry remain committed to telling it straight, reporting from the frontline of the political made personal making them one of the most acerbic bands out there to nod your head along vigorously to.   Remember to pick up ‘Remember Terry’ at all good records shops from Friday, or directly through our web shop here.

"I'm doing fine," sings Terry out loud, he knows. Divide him into four and you get Al Montfort (UV Race, Total Control, Dick Diver etc.), Amy Hill (Constant Mongrel, School Of Radiant Living), Xanthe Waite (Primo, Mick Harvey Band) and Zephyr Pavey (Eastlink, Total Control, Russell Street Bombings). Inevitably, Terry likes to make a noise. Drums, guitars and all his voices come into play, making a solid raft for Terry's inner musings to navigate the languid rapids. This all unravels at its own pace, sometimes drifting into glam pop and country backwaters, always conducting a conversation with the commonplace. Love is a highway, but you're not likely to find Terry there anymore. He's on the plane. Terry saw the light, he put on his sunhat and is heading to Europe. Early doors for this art-prone quartet, fixated on the blunt end of the rhythmic stick, feeling as wild as free. No recordings quite yet, members of Woolf, Sauna Youth, Nekra and Sarcasm .   HOME ENTERTAINMENT find themselves at the intersection where avant garde experimentalism meets garage rock music. Drawing upon a palate of literary, artistic and sonic influences, Home Entertainment create primal, unrefined walls of sound adorned with jagged shards of english low life lyricism. Upset The Rhythm presents…   SHEER MAG SPECIAL GUESTS TV CRIME Thursday 20 July Islington Assembly Hall, Upper Street, Islington, London, N1 2UD 7pm | £10 | TICKETS    SHEER MAG begins like so many other celebrated rock 'n roll bands of yore: with two brothers. Following in the tradition of The Bee Gees, Oasis and The Allman Brothers, the brothers Seely conspired to create a rock 'n roll band to end all rock bands. The sheer magnitude of the endeavor required the recruitment of a daring drummer, a fearless lyricist and a diva who could party good AND write the rent check. With the pantheon assembled, MAG quickly recorded and released their debut 7" to cosmic acclaim. The band now stands poised on the brink of world domination or complete destruction. Is it Punk?
