Hello again,
We've got just two shows left for you this year, our 9th anniversary party on Dec 14th with CHRIS COHEN, THE PHEROMOANS and UMEZ and tonight's Lexington shindig with U.S. GIRLS. Backed up for the first time with her own band, Meghan's ethereal feel for pop music now brims with added glam propulsion and swooning ambience par excellence. In support we have the irrepressible SLIM TWIG, who released two of our favourite albums this year, and ZACHT AUTOMAAT making a rare appearance outside of their native Canada. It's going to be brilliant, read on for all the particulars…

U.S. GIRLS (with LIVE BAND)
SLIM TWIG
ZACHT AUTOMAAT

The Lexington, 96-98 Pentonville Road, Angel, N1 9JB
8pm | £7.00 | http://www.wegottickets.com/event/186971
U.S. GIRLS is the creative force of a lone American woman, Meghan Remy. Since 2007 she has pursued her minimalist aesthetic with a militant, by-any-means-necessary attitude, collapsing experimental four-track compositions and torch songs alike on starkly defined, statement LP’s like ‘Introducing...’ and ‘Go Grey’ (on Siltbreeze Records) and in 2011, 'U.S. Girls on Kraak' (on Belgian label Kraak). Remy has unwaveringly declared her influences lie with oldies radio and the distinctly American songcraft of writers like Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen. Perhaps even more accurately she can be described as a modern pop revisionist who merges the audible artistic honesty of her beloved soul music with lyrical strains of static and tape hiss. Songs like ‘Red Ford Radio’ and ‘Untie Me’ reimagine Billboard hit singles of the golden era as bleakly rendered expressions of a primal American femininity. While gradually upping the pop ante, these recent releases have sought to maintain Remy's directly emotional appeal and lead to the release of her fourth album, the appropriately titled 'Gem', on FatCat records. Where before she appeared shrouded and even mysterious, Remy now directly addresses her take on childhood, gender inequality, sex work, and love with a distinctive blend of elegance and frankness uncommon to many contemporary songwriters. Merging a fascination with glam rock as interpreted by the anti-excess of Patti Smith, these new songs sparkle between the poles of an inverted take on Bolan's Pop testosterone and the alienating abstraction of Throbbing Gristle. This show will see Meghan perform with a live band for the first time in London, composed of members of Slim Twig and Zacht Automaat's lineups.

SLIM TWIG is not the name of a band, but of a man. In the last 2 years (spent mostly reclusively recording), this is something that has had to be distinguished as the once solo performer has come to incorporate collaboration more readily, most obviously in his employment of an accompanying band. Out of the disturbed murkiness and demented maundering of his initial releases you can now hear the sound of a promising, young song writer on his recent album 'Sof' Sike' (Paper Bag Records). Though as idiosyncratic as ever, these new songs showcase an interest in classicist songwriting, a fondness for psych-era Rolling Stones, an affinity with the queer power pop of R. Stevie Moore, an odd friendliness of sorts. Not one to be pigeon-holed, last month also saw the release of 'A Hound At The Hem' - a narrative album collaboration, again with his band (consisting of Toronto session heavy weights Carl Didur, Louis Percival & Tim Westberg) and Owen Pallett. Taking it's cue from Gainsbourg's 'Histoire De Melody Nelson' not only in it's daring fusion of orchestral tones with rockist textures, but also in it's derivation and manipulation of Nabokov's Lolita chronicle. 'A Hound At The Hem' represents the 'hard psych' flipside to Sof' Sike, both albums are available now.

ZACHT AUTOMAAT are a duo from Canada making the music of their minds. Dense, hallucinogenic migrations emanate from the spinning magnetic strips tucked inside Zacht Automaat’s phased journey through pressure-wave manipulation. Zacht Automaat are a colossal trip through transcended flares, beat cut-ups, major-key Kraut drones, Canterbury-ish odd meter prog and swathes of library dramatics. Their tapes defy all classification and straddle a wicked line between beats/samples and live shredding. Completely unassuming, understated, and unforgettable. Zacht Automaat have recorded ten albums since forming, and plan on recording even more.

UPSET THE RHYTHM'S 9TH BIRTHDAY featuring…
CHRIS COHEN (Deerhoof / Cryptacize / The Curtains / Captured Tracks)
THE PHEROMOANS
UMEZ
Friday 14 December
The Lexington, 96-98 Pentonville Road, Angel, N1 9JB
8pm | £7.00 | http://www.wegottickets.com/event/188842
CHRIS COHEN is a 37-year-old native of Los Angeles currently residing in the farmlands of Vermont. He is the child of a former music business executive and a former Broadway actress. His resumé of prior musical projects is a long one: as a contributing member of The Curtains, Cryptacize, Deerhoof, and Natural Dreamers, he released 10 full-length albums between 2002 and 2008. Along the way, Cohen was also a touring player with White Magic, Cass McCombs, Haunted Graffiti and Danielson, among others, for stints both short and long. All of this has culminated in his first release under his own name, and his first for Captured Tracks, Overgrown Path. A singing drummer who writes psychedelic pop music, Cohen also records his own bass, Casio MT65, piano, and guitar. Tracks like “Caller No. 99″ and “Monad” follow idiosyncratic forms, but are still melodic in an unconventional and homegrown way – like the best of Robert Wyatt, Mayo Thompson, Syd Barrett, and Jerry Garcia. Overgrown Path unfolds its delicate and unexpected arrangements around Cohen’s relaxed baritone, unhurriedly revealing the detailed world wrapped up in each song. Chris played our very first UTR show as a member of Deerhoof, tonight's show celebrates to the same day our ninth year of doing Upset The Rhythm.

THE PHEROMOANS are a six piece experimental rock band from the South East of England who deal in a deadpan DIY music. Wedded to the mundane, surreal reportage of our lives as reflected in the media, their music manages to address the truly restless boredom of everyday life. These are songs for the back of the queue, songs from underneath the ergonomic desk, a glimpse through the commuter window, blasted through with brilliant suburban sunshine. Over the last three years the band have released a slew of releases, including numerous EPs, 7”s and three albums through labels as diverse as Night People, Convulsive, Sweet Rot, Monofonus Press and their own imprint Savoury Days. The band's recent album, ‘Does This Guy Stack Up?’ (Upset The Rhythm) witnesses a slight departure from their sound of old, their songs leaning into a more pop-balanced realm, with the band’s experimental tape collage approach sounding more natural than ever.
http://thepheromoans.blogspot.co.uk/
UMEZ are a newly formed Japanese band based in London making crazed j-pop with washes of noise, eccentricity and aplomb, coming to a point which has no real comparisons with anything else. Although they mix two negating music genres, their noise sound is pure heavy white noise matching perfectly with their pop sound echoing with sentiment.

INDEPENDENT LABEL MARKET on SUNDAY and NAYTRONIX on MONDAY
Morning all,
Firstly, huge thank yous to everyone for coming to Wild Nothing and White Fence this week, two incredible performances, I'm sure you'd agree! This week we've also been inundated with orders for PEEPHOLES' debut album 'The Overspill' too, so again another massive thanks for supporting brilliant music. Tonight at The Lexington we have the one-and-only CHAIN IN THE GANG in town, just 16 tickets left for this one, so act fast if you're interested, THE NUNS and MICKEY GLOSS will both be playing too. Tickets: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/175995
Thanks for bearing with us, three shows in a row can make your head spin! This weekend we have a breather tomorrow and then on Sunday we're taking part in the Independent Label Market for the first time. We'll be selling records from all our back catalogue plus lots of special posters and shirts too at Spitalfields market, alongside Rough Trade, Caught By The River, Soul Jazz, Fortuna Pop and many more. Stop by and say "hello"!
OK, one last thing before we go, and that's to mention our show on Monday for the mighty NAYTRONIX (Nate from Tune-Yards) on Monday at Birthdays. Yes, we've got the ghost of dance punk future visiting with the simply infectious Nate Brenner & Co, primal other-worlders PEEPHOLES and the irrefutable beats/charm of PUNISHMENT too.
Read on for all you need to know…
NAYTRONIX is an evil dance band cloned from the stem cells of multi-instrumentalist Nate Brenner. As the bassist for genre-bending institutions tUnE-yArDs and Beep!, he is not a stranger to voyaging across his great many homelands and spinning platinum out of the resources he trades along the way. Nate's songwriting style is deeply rooted in the traditions of the future, which few alive today know anything about. And while the compositions are geared towards the sinister post-apocalyptic dance colonies that are on the verge of sprouting up around the world, an undeniably timeless funk is woven into the Naytronix hit machine. Fashionable grooves merge with found sounds and homemade instruments to unsettling yet familiar effect, as humans play side-by-side with robots, intertwining in a nefarious tango until you don’t know where veins ends and circuitry begins. Brenner has been called, “The Bootsy Collins of Oakland, California,” where he currently resides. He is a native of the synthetic desert cities of William Onyeabor, the vanguard estates of Charles Mingus, and the family manor of Sly Stone. Naytronix has a brilliant debut album called 'Dirty Glow, available through Plug Research on double 10" now!
http://www.plugresearch.com/naytronix/
PEEPHOLES are Katia Barrett and Nick Carlisle; a synth/drums duo defining their unique sound with both discipline and disorder. Barrett and Carlisle originally from Bahrain and Northern Ireland respectively met in Brighton in 2006 after bonding over a Chinese violin and the quietest of music. They quickly turned the volume up and hit on their winning strategy of soaring, stammering synth lines, primal drumming and low-slung vocals. Treading a tightrope between underground punk and dance music, Peepholes write cloaked anthems as likely to open celestial gates with keys of repetition as to soundtrack a Dark Age future. Their music is otherworldly, aching with wild beats, echoing with cavernous atmospheres. After a series of well-received mini-albums, EPs and some earth-shaking live performances, Peepholes have finally finished their debut album proper for Upset The Rhythm entitled 'The Overspill', out this week!

PUNISHMENT finds WT Statler piloting a mess of late-80s synthesizers through the back catalogs of post-CBGB Suicide (think YB Blue), Yellow Magic Orchestra, and even those electronic Leonard Cohen records into a post-2000s realm of emotional honesty (via text message) and the sort of ringtone-friendly sounds James Ferraro would appreciate.

PEEPHOLES out TODAY!
Good morning!
As we edge into the festive whiteout we return this week with three shows! Our first two, Wild Nothing on Wednesday and White Fence on Thursday are now both sold out, thank you for buying tickets, apologies to anyone who missed out. We still however have some tickets for Friday night's CHAIN & THE GANG show which sees Ian Svenonius grace our stage (well The Lexington's) once again in the good company of THE NUNS and MICKEY GLOSS, total party gauranteed! Full details trail away below, along with newly listed shows for DAN DEACON, MATMOS, PEOPLE LIKE US, TROPA MACACA, HELM and WILD NOTHING.
Today also sees our final release of 2012 bubble out of the forge. Available on weighty 180g LP, CD and MP3, PEEPHOLES' debut album 'The Overspill' is released today worldwide. You can pick up a copy from all good record shoppes or from our webstore.
It's a really brilliant album, forever playing in our heads, enjoy the blurbs and/or stream now at Dazed.

Formats: CD /LP /MP3
Track listing:
1. Ah Ah Ah
2. Conversation
3. Pinnacles
4. Lion
5. Keychain
6. Marimba
7. We Don’t Like Anyone
8. The Overspill
9. Living In Qatar
After a series of well-received mini-albums, EPs and some earth-shaking live performances, Peepholes have finally finished their debut album proper for Upset The Rhythm entitled “The Overspill”. “The Overspill” continues on from last record “Caligula” with its rejection of traditional song form, allowing each track to follow it’s own fluid course, to hunt down its essential cadence. With this new album, Peepholes have realised a long ambition of theirs; trusting many first take vocals, following hunches, concentrating on the flow. You can hear that on opener ‘Ah Ah Ah’ with its insistent motorik feel and pleading vocal of masked sounds. Carlisle’s synth stalks Barrett’s blurred voice into a formless coda of tumbling toms whilst some nihilistic Fairlight pipes join the pursuit, only to resurface later on Fourth World melodic rush ‘Keychain’. ‘Living In Qatar’ exceeds in leaking out from the edges of the “we go out every night, we try out every car” pop realm into a vast somber void of tracing synthesizers, exclamations and hallucinations. The last ten minutes of the song forego gods, deny the human and escape storytelling and this is what Peepholes have done with this album. With “The Overspill”, Peepholes have not only escaped the story, they’ve escaped the narrator, leaving something beautiful yet profoundly ambiguous in its absence.
\\\\\\ FRIDAY /////
CHAIN & THE GANG
THE NUNS
MICKEY GLOSS
Friday 30 November
The Lexington, 96-98 Pentonville Road, Angel, N1 9JB
8pm | £9.00 | http://www.wegottickets.com/event/175995
CHAIN AND THE GANG is current musical project from Ian Svenonius, a man who needs little introduction. Chain And The Gang is packed with conceptual sass, slinky rhythms, gospel punk and as much call-and-response fun as you'd expect from the man. For this tour Ian has lined up a five piece band to help him to slap the groove and power up the soul. They are tired of liberty… tired of being free… they say "if this is 'freedom' then lock me up and throw away the key." Chain are concerned that the spread of liberty has been detrimental to the world. Everywhere liberty goes, it leaves a path of destruction. Fast food, bad architecture, militarism, rampant greed, environmental destruction, imperial conquest, class struggle; these phenomena, when combined, seem to be synonymous with "Liberty." So just as they call it "liberty" or "freedom" when war and greed stalk the land, Svenonius calls his band Chain And The Gang. For Svenonius, this is another step in a life spent trying to do as little as possible. He's been seen on stage as a lecturer promoting his book "The Psychic Soviet", as a singer in the groups Make-Up, Scene Creamers, Weird War, and Nation of Ulysses, and also as interviewer of interesting people on the internet chat show Soft Focus. Chain's most recent album 'In Cool Blood' was released through K Records earlier this year.
http://chainandthegang.tumblr.com/
THE NUNS are an all-lady six-piece who love The Monks. They love The Monks so much, in fact, that they play the songs of the Amercian GIs turned garage rock pioneers, replete with full habit get up.
http://www.myspace.com/itsnuntime
MICKEY GLOSS is a psychedelic punk group that started in Australia and ended up in London. They play static lullabies full of absurd rants and transient tales. There first album, the independently released ‘Indelible Ballad of the Tainted Fur’, is a cartoon rock mindwarp. Look out for the band's recent 7" flexi on X-Ray Recordings, let your freak flag fly!

Before Ed Schrader's Music Beat, Ed made music under the name Ed Schrader, layering trippy sounds over pounding drums. A 10" from four years back documents this era, before Ed expanded the project into Music Beat. In 2009 Devlin Rice (also of Nuclear Power Pants) joined Ed for a one-off show. The band formed quite unintentionally. Ed was invited to play a rave of all things and, before almost deciding to opt out, decided to join forces with his roommate Devlin for the performance.
Playing as a duo, the show was magical - Ed doing manic extended versions of his songs, crooning to a glow stick friendly crowd under a full moon in September, while Devlin raged alongside making for a winning combination that was too good to leave as a one night affair. This mind meld took the left field paranoid pop that Ed was composing and added a powerful low end power chug from the jug of eternal rock, raising the whole project to a more visceral live experience.
Since then the band has done considerable touring with acts such as Future Islands, Lightning Bolt and Dan Deacon, and really whipped up some enthusiasm based on their minimal and real rock vision.Debut album 'Jazz Mind' is out now on Upset The Rhythm.

EYELESS IN GAZA
Saturday 21 July
79 Endell Street, Covent Garden, WC2H 9 DY
8pm | £11.00 | TICKETS
EYELESS IN GAZA formed in 1980 in Nuneaton, Warwickshire and have become over the course of their career one of the UK's most brilliant and idiosyncratic bands. With their self-released debut 7", 'Kodak Ghosts Run Amok', EIG immediately staked their own space in the post punk scheme of things. Boasting a Wasp synth never sounding so triumphant, the single was as much a primal scream of expression as any punk onslaught. Signing to the Cherry Red label the band then released six albums plus an array of singles. From the jagged, spiky soundbites of the first two albums, through to the fully formed 'Back From The Rains', the duo's overall sound blossomed. Their on-stage 'face-off' set-up - Pete Becker juggling live keyboards, bass, drums and backing vocals, positioned directly opposite Martyn Bates' guitars, keyboards and mesmeric, emotive vocal - only compounded to set them apart from, well... everybody.
The strain from pushing, unsuccessfully, to secure a hit single and more crucially, the major label support they were after, pretty much fuelled EIG's break up in 1987. After their split, Bates, in almost defiant fashion, became even more prolific. He released five classy solo albums in as many years before the duo reconvened in 1992. Since then, with Bates' solo outings interspersed, EIG have increasingly stretched their boundaries. The five releases that moved them through the nineties times showcased their seemingly effortless, ability to write truly sublime melodies as well as travel music's hard shoulder. From collaborations on/contributions to projects involving Genesis P. Orridge, Lol Coxhill, poets Anne Clark and Rainer Maria Rilke, James Joyce's Chamber Music poems, Scorn/Painkiller mainstay M.J. Harris, and Bill Laswell, EIG and Martyn Bates' more 'experimental' side has, pretty much, also spanned their whole musical careers. Their descriptive feel has lent itself to involvement in film as well, from Derek Jarman's 'The Garden and The Last of England' through to 2002's art house hit, 'Intimacy', the soundtrack to which also featured The Clash, The Stooges, David Bowie and Nick Cave. Most recently, Bates has also completed the music for 'The Resurrection Apprentice', a short, directed by filmmaker (Larry Fassenden/Jim Jarmusch collaborator) Glenn McQuaid.
Last year saw the release of EIG's most recent album 'Everyone Feels Like A Stranger' an album described by Uncut Magazine as ”high on English folk/psychedelic textures... a collection of windswept, romantic songs, prickly as holly and sad as old Polaroids... a real career peak.” And this month, sister record "Butterfly Attitude' was released on Downwards to acclaim. Eyeless In Gaza are a truly poetic band and their music, often sepia-toned and camouflaged, still displays all the warm melancholia and fluttering beauty that it ever has. This is going to be a very special show!

EXCEPTER are an American improvisatory electronic rock group, walking through the destruction of the division between performance and programming. An electric city, a test of endurance and entrancement. Mystic rips in liminality. Formed in NYC 2002, Excepter have over 23 recordings released on various labels: Fusetron; Load; 5RC; Paw Tracks; RVNG. A group mind experience, Excepter brought to bear upon the world of electronic dance music the improvisational discipline of founder John Fell Ryan's membership in The No-Neck Blues Band. Slowly shifting in line-ups and styles over the years, Excepter always produces its core sound of multiple voices, winds and percussion echoing over free-form machine rhythms and synthesizer. With the tragic passing of Excepter vocalist and drummer Clare Amory in February 2011, surviving members spread to different cities across the States. Lala and John Fell Ryan now live and work in Los Angeles, joining satellite member Robert Girardin. Nathan Corbin moved and rebuilt his studio outside Sante Fe, New Mexico. Jon Nicholson still holds down Excepter presence in New York City. Excepter continue to record new material and perform on stage. STREAMS 2, a box set edit of performances by the 2007-2009 sextet edition of Excepter will be released on Blast First Petite soon. This show marks Excepter's debut performance in the UK in their 10 year career, and we're sure it'll prove well worth the wait.

HELM is Luke Younger - a sound artist and experimental musician based in London, working with a vast array of revolving instrumentation and abstract sound sources. Younger's compositions build a dense aural landscape that touches on musique concrete, uncomfortable sound poetry, noise, and hallucinatory drones. His last LP for the Kye label, 'Cryptography', presents a five-part suite of expertly rendered processed piano, Casio MT-40, cymbal and broken guitar strings. Younger creates a world where these instruments morph into spectral rust, a shimmering klang swims alongside passive noise and the relationship between acoustic and electronic derived sounds forms a solid foundation. This sound is steered through a melange of fringe territories: glacial drone meditations, reconfigured gamelan clusters, and howling walls of organized feedback, all coalesced in a post-industrial fashion with a commitment to homemade exploratory zeal. For the past ten years, Younger has also performed extensively in Europe and the US with Steven Warwick as pioneering avant-drone duo Birds of Delay. His excellent new LP 'Impossible Symmetry' is out now on PAN.

DESIGN A WAVE aka Tom Hirst has been making music for many moons. Initial buds featured tape collages, distangled pop music, various dictaphone experiments, and over time all this meshed and warped into his solo musical venture known as Design A Wave. Initiated in the late 90's, the project was loosely named after one of the gangs in the Troma film Surf Nazis Must Die which, alongside other similar movies and music of it's time, informed a particular vision of an idealized weird - a trashy synth orientated 80s B-movie soundtrack, which provided an aesthetic platform on which to dive, surf and ride. Over time the sound grew vocals, a live component formed, and a shift away from abstract recordings via more overt emotional territory brings us to the current byproduct. The 'Live On Your Yard' EP released on Alter presents four tracks of emotive and melancholic synth pop that point towards the eccentricity of artists like Snakefinger and Tuxedomoon, the synthetic slickness and charity shop glamour of Italo Disco, and the misery of coldwave. Right now Tom is working on a full length LP for Alter and Upset the Rhythm and recently made an appearance on the brilliant 'Still Going In Offices' compilation on Savoury Days.

NITE JEWEL and NAYTRONIX and EYELESS IN GAZA next week!
Hello again!
The quiet before the storm - ha! Next week we have three terrific shows happening so we wanted to send out a general heads up. Next Wednesday at XOYO, we have the long-awaited return of NITE JEWEL to London hot on the heels of Ramona's impressive recent album of swooning synth spells. In support, pushing the dreamscape into hazier territories are Edinburgh's MAGIC EYE and the achingly soulful NICHOLAS KRGOVICH (who is also playing as a member of Nite Jewel too!). Next Thursday at Birthdays, we're very lucky to have a debut UK outing for Nate and Merrill from tUnE-yArDs new dance party project NAYTRONIX, in support we have spirit guides HALO HALO and afro-punk power duo SACRED PAWS too. If that wasn't enough the following Saturday (July 21st at 79 Endell St) we have an exceptionally special show for melancholic legends EYELESS IN GAZA, who will be spoiling us an atmospheric set dancing through their 30 year history, serious highlight of the year material. OK, here's the full blurbs for you all, enjoy...

NITE JEWEL aka California native Ramona Gonzalez first began her transcendent minimalist dance-pop escapades in the privacy of her own home in Los Angeles with the aid of her multitrack cassette recorder. She very quickly developed her own unique sound, taking inspiration from European experimental electronic music and U.S. R&B pop, and began performing live in the L.A. area under the moniker Nite Jewel. Since the release of Nite Jewel's mesmerizing 2008 debut 'Good Evening', Ramona and her group have honed their lounge-pop-R&B craft across releases from Italians Do It Better, Mexican Summer and Human Ear, which collectively lead to a wealth of refinement and bold directness in both singing and songwriting. On new album 'One Second Of Love' you'll find a re-imagination of Golden-era R&B pop; future-classic sounds alongside vocal sultriness. If Nite Jewel's earlier work brought to mind the likes of Lisa Lisa or Debbie Deb on quaaludes, this new body of work may conjure up clearer images of Sade, Eurythmics-era Annie Lennox and Tracy Thorn. Produced with longtime collaborator Cole MGN (The Samps, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti), the entire affair is pure, confident, singular-but-intricate and delightfully sophisticated. Nite Jewel's evolution of fidelity and nuance comes to a head with the release of One Second of Love, available now on Secretly Canadian.

MAGIC EYE are a quartet from Edinburgh who create glistening interlocking guitar parts (guitar players Alex and Bek are in total synchronicity), taking their melodies to new heavenly heights and letting each line swim through the track. The shimmering guitar parts brilliantly compliment Roma's bewitching warm-summer-night vocal, reminiscent of Julee Cruise imploring you to "tell your heart that I'm the one..." while all the while Francis holds things in orbit with his sparse, smart, direct beats that echo crisply and cooly throughout Magic Eye's fresh sonic space. The band's 'Shreddin' on Heaven's Floor' cassette album is available now through Animal Images.

NICHOLAS KRGOVICH is a 29 year-old Vancouver-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist best known for his work with NO KIDS, GIGI, P:ANO and MOUNT EERIE. He has been releasing records under various monikers since P:ANO’s acclaimed chamber pop debut “When It’s Dark And It’s Summer” in 2002, which has led to his work with the girl group inspired GIGI, the icy displacement of the r’n’b informed NO KIDS and most recently to the singular pop dreams released under his full legal name NICHOLAS KRGOVICH. Even though the material is often wildly diverse there is a unmistakable sense of Krgovich’s deep commitment to exploring the endless possibilities of pop, a discerning ear for sonic detail and quite often an ambition that wilfully borders on the absurd. With songs that owe as much to the Great American Songbook as to perennial favourites like Sade, Prefab Sprout and The Blue Nile, Krgovich has been spinning rich compositions out of obsessions with Old Hollywood grandeur and Mullholland Drive-style mystery, which create a dreamland where palm trees cast impossibly long shadows, courtyard swimming pools glow at night, and washed-up movie stars haunt the streets looking for love. With a musical universe comprised of intricate vocal melodies, lush orchestrals, layers of analog synths, slinky funk guitars and tight rhythms of both the human and inhuman variety, Krgovich has been busy putting the finishing touches on his upcoming solo debut LP due later this year.

HALO HALO
SACRED PAWS
Thursday 19 July
Birthdays, 33-35 Stoke Newington Road, Dalston, N16 8BJ
8pm | £5.00 | TICKETS
NAYTRONIX is an evil dance band cloned from the stem cells of multi-instrumentalist Nate Brenner. As the bassist for genre-bending institutions tUnE-yArDs (Merrill also plays in Naytronix) and Beep!, he is not a stranger to voyaging across his great many homelands and spinning platinum out of the resources he trades along the way. Naytronix have a free EP available through Plug Research now.
http://www.plugresearch.com/naytronix/
HALO HALO take their name from a very tasty, multicoloured desert from the Philippines. They are Jack on drums, singing and Harmonica and Rachel on Banjo, singing and Gill on keyboards and bass. Halo Halo make music that careens, drawing on Appalachian folk rambles as well as the hyper melodic clattering Sinawi vibes of Korea's shamanic past. Check out their debut 7" single 'Manananggal' on Savoury Days and M'Ladys now, as well as their recent split CDR with Colin Min Sai, featuring a live set in Tel Aviv no less!
http://halohalomixmix.blogspot.com/
SACRED PAWS is a meeting of minds. Featuring Rachel Aggs (of Trash Kit, Cover Girl) on guitar and Eilidh Rodgers (of Golden Grrrls) on drums, the duo kick out a spirited mix of afro-pop and sprawling hypno-rock. The sway of the dance party certainly reigns strongly too with songs building to immersive highs whilst both Rachel and Eilidh's vocals tumble in cycles through each other. Sacred Paws have some demos available to hear now on their website below.
