Naked Roommate’s knockout of a debut album is released today! ‘Do The Duvet’, reminds us of Vivien Goldman meets Liquid Liquid, with some frazzled electronics worthy of Vanity Records thrown in for good measure. The quartet from Oakland, California are time capsule brilliant, with the album sounding like it was unearthed from a biscuit tin planted in the ground circa 1981, boasting just the right amount of water-damage warble. ‘Do the Duvet’ sparks with originality though, whipping up twitchy, congealed grooves for Amber Sermeńo’s vocal to ride high atop, making for an alluring yet switchblade-dangerous performance in terms of wit and gaze.
