WATCH: The Green Child - 'Fashion Light'

Thanks to Gorilla Vs Bear for helping us announce The Green Child's new single 'Fashion Light'! Available to stream everywhere now, taken from the avant-pop duo's incredible, forthcoming ‘Shimmering Basset’ album, out in October.

Some words from Raven (of The Green Child) about the song and video too:

Fashion Light is about how, in the company of someone new, a map of attraction forms from flashes, a taste, gestures, insight, collaged into a personality and a connection. And when the process is forced to sit and wait, the gestures become memories and then anchors holding everything intact until it is accessible again and really knowable.  The video is made up of two sets of images, the external static images in a period of waiting and watching, while movement is impossible. And then the internal moving images, the animated sequences of the things happening on cellular levels, when the action can just be imaginary. The link is the body of water and the messages it transports back and forth.

Shimmering Basset is available to pre-order here now!

Normil Hawaiians first new 7" in decades released today!

What a day! The first new music from Normil Hawaiians for 35 years has arrived in the form of a 7”. Today we released 'In The Stone / Where Is Living?’, the fruitful upshot of a recording session in a windswept, coastal house on the Kintyre peninsula.

In The Stone’ is a motorik thrill of distorted guitars, locked rhythms and morphic resonance. Guy Smith is joined by Zinta Egle on vocals, skilfully sharing lyrics informed by place, meaning and recurrent memory. In keeping with the context of the song, sounds from several previous live recordings of the track were woven into its present being. Flipside ‘Where is Living?’ is a decidedly more diaphanous affair of questioning lyrics and eerie traces, droning strings and impressions smudged. Progressive, wordly and imbued with a cosmic uncanny this pair of songs is a tantalising glimpse of Normil Hawaiians now, an echo from the past, an echo from the future.

Available as a limited edition 7” from all the best shops and our webstore here!

Do The Duvet!

Naked Roommate’s knockout of a debut album is released today! ‘Do The Duvet’, reminds us of Vivien Goldman meets Liquid Liquid, with some frazzled electronics worthy of Vanity Records thrown in for good measure. The quartet from Oakland, California are time capsule brilliant, with the album sounding like it was unearthed from a biscuit tin planted in the ground circa 1981, boasting just the right amount of water-damage warble. ‘Do the Duvet’ sparks with originality though, whipping up twitchy, congealed grooves for Amber SermeÅ„o’s vocal to ride high atop, making for an alluring yet switchblade-dangerous performance in terms of wit and gaze.
